ICAS Vilas Art Gallery is delighted to introduce Dariotti Art, an emerging artist whose contemporary abstract work, London Eye, features in the COLOUR OF LIFE 2026 exhibition.
In this composition, Dariotti reinterprets the London Eye—one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks—through a poetic abstract language. Instead of literal detail, the artist conveys the city’s spirit, using light, texture, and colour to evoke the skyline’s quiet majesty.
Using layered mixed media, Dariotti applies paint, washes, and marks to build the surface. Earth hues shift into cool blues, evoking mist above the Thames at dawn or dusk. Subtle gestural lines and delicate strokes suggest the emerging form and movement of the London Eye.
This approach makes the landmark feel both recognisable and dreamlike, suspended in a tranquil urban setting. The deep box frame enhances the work’s presence, extending the textured surface and palette beyond the image, giving the painting a sculptural quality.
Dariotti turns a familiar icon into a study of light, space, and memory, providing viewers a contemplative pause amid London’s energy.
London Eye demonstrates the artist’s skill in balancing abstraction with architectural suggestion, creating a dynamic contemporary interpretation of a celebrated landmark.
