Statement:
" Through sculpture
I try to reach the minds & hearts of fellow human beings. Reminding them of what
really matters, and the inner joy of love, by captivating a moment of time. The
fabric where used, serves to abstract the eye from the human form, accentuating
the unbridled energy and spirit of the hidden image".
CV:
After
studying ballet and contemporary dance, I became increasingly interested in the
movement of the human body, and this, combined with extensive research, gave me
the understanding of anatomy. I have always enjoyed life drawing and my intuitive
feel for the movement of the body and the experience gained from this medium,
inspired me to move into the third dimension. I am self-taught, and through my
sculpture try to reach the minds and hearts of fellow human beings - reminding
them of the inner joy of life, by freezing quiet meditative moments and transforming
them into sensual and tactile sculptures. I believe there is no better way to
train the sculptor’s eye than traditional classical study of the nude model. With
this essential knowledge in hand, the figure can then be confidently created and
abstracted to an individual style – My work has historically been more representative,
but a recent development is a move to the abstract'.
In 1996
I exhibited and sold my first sculpture and since then have sold many pieces in
exhibitions nationwide including Christies, Phillips Fine Art, McHardy Sculpture
Company and the Westminster Gallery for the Society of Women Artists.
