Earlier forms of Figurative art

Since artists began creating art, they have incorporated sexual themes. Ancient civilisations were replete with sexual or erotic imagery, and their relationship to sex and the human body is clear. The human symbolic form has been the central subject studied at the beginning of all art.

The earliest record in history is the stone-age paintings in the caves of Africa.

Figurative art refers to any art that represents the real world, either through realistic or abstract depictions of human figures or other subjects. Figurative art can be found in various mediums, including painting, sculpture, drawing, and printmaking.

In figurative art, the artist creates a recognisable representation of a subject that the viewer can identify. This can include depictions of people, animals, landscapes, still life, and more. Figurative art can range from highly realistic to abstract and can convey various emotions, ideas, and themes.

Figurative art has a long history and has been created by artists around the world for centuries. Some famous examples of figurative art include Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Michelangelo’s sculpture of “David,” and Pablo Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.”

One shared passion captured here in the category of ICAS figurative art is the art of the human form, uniting the talents of the distinguished group of contemporary international figurative artists. Each artist offers a unique style of capturing the human body, from serene and sublime portraits to quirky and surprising life studies. Each artist’s work showcases their development and appreciation of a strong impression in capturing their journey and enjoyment of the figurative form at its “BEST”.
