  Charles Willmott Biography
  Born  in  Stratford - upon Avon,  the only son of artist and metalcraftsman Hague Willmott. Although  for  the most part self taught,
  Charles studied originally at  the Birmingham college of Arts.
  

  Charles works from his studio attached to his home in the rural boarders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire where he lives with his wife Susie and their youngest son Hague.
   
  As a contemporary figurative realist he works in the medium of graphite and charcoal studies before painting in oils. His work could be construed as a marriage between drawing and painting, the burnished, almost waxy surface yield a translucent depth, whilst the realism of detail lies beneath the surface and is disguised in washy planes of expressionist colour.
  
  Charles fascination for Dance started during the time he worked with the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Royal Ballet, particularly with the stunning Japanese principal dancer Miyako Yoshida. His development in the field of dance has grown further with his recent opportunity of working with the famous British Ballerina Darcey Bussell.

  Oriental experience in oil medium..,
  Charles has been painting since the early 60's and in the mid to late 80`s he developed his passion for the Orient, being stimulated by his trips to the Far East.  His studies convey dramatically the deep sense of the spiritual, which through their rituals and traditions lie the very heart of the eastern culture.  This is captured in his latest body of works titled, 
  " Cortes " , and "Chitraleka & Co".
