Artists of Sichuan
Lu Hau - born in GuangDong province in 1963. With his father, who was an army major, young Lu Hua travelled extensively in China. During this time he taught himself traditional Chinese watercolour painting. After leaving school at the age of 15, like most Chinese of the time, he was required to work in a fertilizer factory for nearly nine years. However, in 1987, he was finally admitted to Iu Xun College of Art where he studied oil painting. His style is Realist and he understands very well the need to master both traditional and more modern skills. He presently teaches art in ChengDu in Sichuan province.
Li Zong Le - born in ChenDu in 1949. His father was an engraver of seals. At the age of sixteen he attended the Sichuan College of Art. Four years later, he went to work as a farmer in a remote area of the highlands of Tibet and over the next eight years he became familiar with Tibetan lifestyle and custom. During this time he developed his skill as a painter, and established a solid foundation for his work. He subsequently returned to the Sichuan college of Art where he studied woodcuts. Most of his works are drawn from his life in Tibet. He is inspired by straightforward and simple images and his pictures are immensely powerful and dramatic. He is presently teaching art in ChengDu as an associate professor and his works have been exhibited widely and he has won many awards and competitions. He is a member of the association of Chinese artists as well as the association of Chinese Prints.
Luo Fa Hui - born in ChongQing in 1961, his interest in art started at a very young age with copying pictures from his grandfather`s collections, who was a very successful businessman trading salt between Sichuan province and Japan in the early 1900`s. He was one of the few lucky people who was able to follow the formal path in Art education in China at that time. In 1981, he gratuated from the Affiliated School of Sichuan Fine Art Institue and subsequently, he graduated from the Sichuan Fine Institue in 1985. During these seven years, he acquired a strong basic knowledge of painting. However, with the opening up of China to the outside world, he had a chance to study traditional Chinese art as well as making a survey of world art history and new artistic concepts. He is now teaching in Sichuan educational University.
