Inspiration for Collectors

The medal is designed and produced to celebrate the centenary of Letchworth the World's First Garden City.
It is also a tribute to one of the finest visionaries of the century, Sir Ebenezer Howard.

Sir Ebenezer Howard ( 1850 - 1928)
The concept of Letchworth Garden City - were expressed with clarity and conviction by its founder, Ebenezer Howard.
Howard managed to mould together `town and country' with his visionary ideals and communicated them radically and simply through his famous book `Tomorrow ; A Peaceful Path to Real Reform', which was published in 1898 and re-issued as `Garden Cities of Tomorrow' in 1902.
Born in London, Howard studied the early industrial communities - including Lever's Port Sunlight and Cadbury's Bournville, while following his early career as a Parliamentary reporter.
His planning ideals are very much on the agenda throughout the world today.
